Changes to the Public Spot user management with LCOS 7.70
Description:
This document describes the changes to the Public Spot user management with LCOS 7.70.
Scenario:
You are operating access points or WLAN controllers equipped with the Public-Spot option and you update the firmware to version 7.70.
LCOS version 7.70 and the corresponding LANtools are located
here
.
Important changes:
Until now (LCOS > 7.70), new Public Spot users were entered into the user list of the Public Spot module (Configuration: Public Spot -> Public-Spot - users -> User lists) by means of the setup wizard "Set up Public Spot users".
However, the new functions which offer greater flexibility require the use of the internal RADIUS server. For this reason the newly created users are managed with the RADIUS user database.
The settings for a new Public-Spot user created with the "Set up Public Spot users" wizard in WEBconfig with LCOS 7.70 is to be found under "Configuration: RADIUS server -> General -> User table...". To make use of the internal RADIUS service, the server must be entered into the Provider list of the Public Spot module.
Warning
:
After updating the firmware to LCOS 7.70, newly created users will not be able to login without the following settings!
Procedure:
Activate the RADIUS server by entering the authentication and accounting ports. Use the authentication port 1812 and the accounting port 1813.
These settings are to be found in LANconfig under "Configuration: RADIUS server -> General -> RADIUS server".
Make sure that the option "Use the user list in the menu 'Public Spot/Users'" is deactivated/not set.
Under "Configuration: Public Spot -> Public Spot – users -> Provider list" enter the address of the LANCOM which manages the RADIUS user accounts. If the Public Spot access and the RADIUS server are operated by the same device, then the loopback address has to be entered into the Provider list.
Note:
After updating to LCOS 7.70, user accounts created in the Public Spot module's user list with previous versions of LCOS remain valid.
The function for the automatic cleanup of the user table should be activated so that invalid users are removed from the table.
These changes can be carried out with WEBconfig.
The settings can be made under "LCOS menu tree -> Setup -> RADIUS -> Server'. Set the 'Auto-cleanup user table' parameter to "yes".
New with LCOS 7.70 – starting time for user accounts:
As of LCOS 7.70, the starting time for user validity can be set as follows:
1. Immediate (user account is active from the time it is created)
2. First login (user account activates at the time of the first login)
